This pristine example is a late Winchester Model 92 carbine that has been stored away for most of it’s life. It retains all of it’s blue finish with un-marked varnish stock and forearm. The round barrel has a steel front sight blade mounted on a block behind the upper barrel band and a Buckhorn adjustable rear sight. A staple-mounted saddle ring is located on the left side of the receiver. The stock has a carbine style butt plate. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped with the single two line legend ” NICKEL STEEL – MODEL 92 WINCHESTER – 44WCF -/ TRADE MARK “. The right side is stamped ” MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS OF NEW HAVEN CONN. ” just under the rear sight in front of receiver. Oval Winchester “W/P” proof mark is stamped on the top of the barrel and receiver. The serial number is stamped across the bottom of the receiver just behind the junction with the forearm. The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped “ MODEL 92 – WINCHESTER – TRADE MARK REG.US PAT OFF & FGN “.
Condition is excellent through out and looks to have had next to no use. The barrel and magazine also retain all of the original blue finish. The barrel and receiver markings are crisp. The bore is pristine with a mirror finish. Stock and forearm are also excellent and appear to retain all of the original finish.
Cannot fault this rifle and an exceptionally rare find.
